No offense, but this sounds like a spin-off of Shawn of the Dead. The movie features two loser friends who are complete screw-offs. They then try to save their friends by showing off the skills they learned through video games. Ironically, Shawn of the Dead was a parody, and spin-offs of parodies generally fail.
