That's what happened with the old Anonymous. They were mostly dormant, but when an issue came about that they felt they needed to step in on, that issue face all of Anonymous. The link in my post describing the differences of old Anonymous and new Anonymous had a link that showed what Anonymous could do when working together.

I don't pay attention to whats going on, and even I know the world has never seen what Anonymous' limits are. Admittedly getting that many people working together for any length of time is almost impossible, when it happens the world will change.

Is there a "true" Anon anyway? All I hear "them" doing is calling hackers to aid against some thing or another. Tell me they're not just a bunch of teenies/young adults showing off.

There is a core group, but even they fight amongst themselves. The loud ones you hear are mostly the newer Anonymous, they make a lot of noise and raise awareness. The ones you don't hear from are the ones that do the hacking and such.

Anonymous is the name of hipsters protesting things they dislike who took the name from a group of people from 4chan who raided various websites. Both of which occasionally DDoS but only the former calls it hacking.
Anonymous isn't some sort of omniscient force waiting to pounce or a crusader of justice such as this thread suggests. Anonymous is whoever claims the name at a specific moment.

That is what some people like to believe, but from first-hand experience I can tell you Anonymous is much different and much more powerful than you think

Afcours they are powerfull. its like all these german-russians kids who call themselve nazis, go around and do what they belive is nazi'ing, not even knowing more than the "Swastika" and "hate these and these and these", so they just beat everything they see.
This is the modern annonymus - every 12 kid with a talent to computers hack sites and claim he is annonymus, so people will affraid to go after him. if its go to the news, otehr 12 start an assult, claim that its for annonymus.
The problme is, the mass dont know when the true annonymus do things, and when these wanna bes, whome you see in protest with paper masks do. when annonymus hack to a company who fight piracy and when a 40 man who live with his mother hack to a site for kids with Epilepsy and put a gif with bright jumping lights, just to make other people as misrible as him.

Just like i hate all these scene in hard metal, wher people wear 666 and devil stuff in the pose of "yea! we are evil! yea go devil! 666!" this is why i hate all of these wings around annonymus. call me hipster, but when a rebelice thing becaume mainstream, its out. when a close grpup of friends with a shared ideaoligy becaume a symble for hacking and no more for any agenda, its dead for me.
wher you are a brave rebel, you get the masses {of computer users} support. when you becaume stormcloack {skyrim, just got it! }, your rebel is falling apart.

and btw, Spaz, you wrote your email. its so easy to track down where you are from, or even just get your mail. the police can track you faster than you can say "im not realy from annonymus" {which i dont say you are not}.

and for last, just a tip - if you want to make a thread stay for long, make it an argue, not an announcment. "Whats is your opinion on annonymus? i belive i have alot of information, so feel free to ask me...".

It most certainly is not, you're just using this thread as a circlejerk to make yourself feel like you're part of some powerful entity.

they are powerfull, we cant doubt on that. if there will be a talking on taking off a site, it will get off. if there will be talks about stoping 4chan, there will be troubles. they have power. but the problme is they are not a group. they are a name. maybe somewher, deep deep inside, there is a bunch of peoples who actualy know each other, but the rest are just wanna-be's, who indeed want to feel that they are part of something strong. like all these new-nazi groups.

Nuking your own internet connection(along with lots of other people doing the same) in order to take out a website temporarily, with absolutely no lasting effects is certainly not what I'd call &quotowerful".

If you click on the link I provided earlier, you will see a small example of what Anonymous can do (hint: They can find a person's full information, then use it to their advantage in whatever way they see fit or pleasing)

A very small example of how they can ruin a life

Anonymous taking down Interpol

Here is the power of just a single member

Anonymous showing off it's good side

Anonymous attacks another person, finds out personal info. Because of Anonymous actions, her father was charged with Child Abuse.

6 examples (counting the one I put earlier)...that enough for you to get a better idea of their power?

You clearly are just trying to make yourself feel like a secret agent apart of a shady organization. DDoSing websites and doxing people isn't something &quotowerful", and Jessi Slaughter was done by 4chan, not by your hipster protesters.

Not at all, I am just stating the facts

DDoSing websites and doxing people isn't something &quotowerful",

Not necessarily, but hacking the GoDaddy network is quite &quotowerful"...as for gaining the information of multiple people without doxing

and Jessi Slaughter was done by 4chan, not by your hipster protesters.

Jessi Slaughter was done by Anonymous members that were apart of the /b/ section of 4chan. If you read all what was in the link, you will see how it states Anonymous' actions, instead of 4chan's actions.

As for "hipster protestors"..it was the Old Anonymous that did Slaughter in, not the New Anonymous (the New Anonymous being what you consider the "hipster protestors&quot

rafterman, you are a perfect example of a portion of the people that denounce being apart of Anonymous (the portion that claim it is not powerful)

1. Yes I am an under cover agent working on a top secret operation and I have found all your locations.

2. Pang my apologies for your name.

3. Anonymous is powerful. Ideas can not be destroyed.

4. Hipster can't be called hipster. Hipster is not conforming. while everyone conforms to being under the name of hipster. 0_0

You make it seem otherwise.

Every single action they take has absolutely no lasting affect.
Sure a few "members" have some actual minor hacking skills, but the majority ride on their coattails when they can't do anything more than plug an IP adress into loic.

Jessi Slaughter was done by Anonymous members that were apart of the /b/ section of 4chan. If you read all what was in the link, you will see how it states Anonymous' actions, instead of 4chan's actions.

Actually the link specifically calls it a 4chan raid. Besides, KYM isn't the most accurate source for anything not spawned on 9gag and reddit.

As for "hipster protestors"..it was the Old Anonymous that did Slaughter in, not the New Anonymous (the New Anonymous being what you consider the "hipster protestors&quot

Two separate entities. Whether you like it or not, the core of the "old anonymous" is 4chan's btards who weren't some crusaders for justice, they just did things for fun. Both groups are script kiddies for the most part however.

rafterman, you are a perfect example of a portion of the people that denounce being apart of Anonymous (the portion that claim it is not powerful)

I just tire of what people turn it into.

What I think is crazy is this guy ^ knows nothing about this subject or is way too idiotic to know what he is talking about. I think (in my opinion) that you were hurt by a hacker because of your lack of maturity or attitude and this is your way of venting. I think what they do on the internet is a very big deal then it is off the net. I think the people who follow the idea have done a lot to stop bills from being passed, stopped scientologist churches from being built etc. You may want to rethink everything you are saying. Unless you know one thing about hacking or any programming or have even been out on the streets protesting, I believe you have an invalid argument.

Just saying.

Because, you know, I haven't kept my views completely subjective or backed up what I was saying with multiple examples (and accessible links to said examples). [This is sarcasm...obviously]

Every single action they take has absolutely no lasting affect.

Please refer back to the 3 examples of them basically interfering in someone's life in major ways..as well as the example of them taking down 40+ child porn sites, including one of the largest known, with account details of its 1589 users being posted online as evidence. And they didn't just temporarily take down the sites, they completely took them down, while also gaining the account details of over 1,500 people.

Actually the link specifically calls it a 4chan raid.

Anonymous soon uncovered her personal information including phone number, address and her Twitter account.

Also, 4chan can be considered the "home of Anonymous", seeing how a majority of Anonymous members are strongly a part of 4chan. Also, when "4chan" attacks someone or something, that is not 4chan doing so...99 out of 100 times it is Anonymous doing so, but because of their strong affiliation with 4chan (and taking into account that Anonymous essentially started/grew in 4chan), 4chan is what usually gets the headline credit

Whether you like it or not, the core of the "old anonymous" is 4chan's btards who weren't some crusaders for justice, they just did things for fun.

Whether they did things for fun or did things for serious reasons (refer back to the "cat-abuser&quot, they were still a very serious threat. I will not deny that the core of Old Anonymous were /b/ros, for as a stated previously, that is basically their "home".

I just tire of what people turn it into.

I'd understand if your argument was that Anonymous isn't as powerful as given credit for because of, say, their lack of full uniformity...however your argument is basically that Anonymous isn't really powerful at all, but the fact is that Anonymous is powerful, very powerful.

Unless you know one thing about hacking or any programming

Something I noticed...while everyone (who is actively taking part in this) has their main point around Anonymous and their hacking abilities...my main focus is how they can ruin people's lives through their power -_-

To be honest, the hacking subject is a sketchy one to get into...while a large majority of the "hacking" is just simple DDoS or Doxing, it still takes some degree of "talent" to be able to do so...I've seen hackers of pretty decent caliber fail many times at doxing...it isn't the easiest thing in the world. However, the argument can still be made that all they are doing is doxing, and that that isn't legitimate hacking.
