Title says it all. Does a game need to be sponsored by AG to be accepted?

No, but I personally would recommend it. If it gets popular, there are tons of bonuses like extra cash, openings for more games, further popularity, and the list goes on and on.

If a game gets submitted with an ad supporting Armor Games, any chance of ad revenue?

I don't think your game can feature an AG ad if it's not sponsored first. If it has an ad, then yes, it'll receive revenue.
