Offensive Combat is a nice online FPS.
Hawken just released as well.
Now, if you prefer single player ones, i suggest checking sites like Megagames and G4G (Games for gamers), they have a big list of free games.

Tribes Ascend and Planetside 2 if you like shooters. I hear both of them have a very fair f2p system.

You should definately try Dwarf Fortress if you are into minecraft...

trackmania - race
battlefield heroes - shooter
adventure quest - turn base battles
pristontale (doesn't exist anymore) - MMORPG
silkroad - MMORPG
dynasty warriors online - hack & slash
S7 league - shooter
trackmania is my number 1.
havn't played trackmania 2 yet. but they say it's atleast just as great.
if i have to believe x-fire then i played trackmania over 3000 hours. xD
only to get beaten by unreal tournament whit over 6500 hours.
