You don't need to actually like/follow them, just click the buttons in the game and you will get the stars.

Lots of times I'm completing the quest and in the game it says I completed the quest but the Armorgames quest isn't completed.

Pretty easy, I guess. Just go to level one and place towers (besides barracks, obviously).
