Wait. The pieces don't HAVE to be the same. Can you could take away gold then give him more?
If so, I have the solution: Cut it three times...into 1/7, 2/7 and 4/7.
Day 1: give him the 1/7. 1/7
Day 2: take back the 1/7 and give him the 2/7. 2/7
Day 3: give him the 1/7 again. 3/7
Day 4: take back both of them and give him the 4/7. 4/7
Day 5: give him the 1/7. 5/7
Day 6: take back the 1/7 and give him the 2/7. 6/7
Day 7: give him the 1/7 again. 7/7
Yes, that is exactly it. Nice job.

Here's an excellent one that will make you think hard, much like the 53 eagles.
Matt takes Amy to a wonderful, classy resteraunt. He has eaten here several times and loves the food. They each have a good time, until, halfway through the meal, Amy throws up. She gets very ill and has to leave the room. Several other people in the resteraunt get sick as well. Nothing was wrong with the food, nor with Amy or anyone else. In fact, she thought it was delicious. She hadn't had an allergic reaction and had no illness before coming here. On top of that, Matt wasn't particularly surprised. Why not?

How about...
One is up. The other, down.
They oppose each other yet help achieve the same goal.
One below the sky, the other above the world.
These twins resemble each other, but they have different uses.
what are these two brothers?
That is the way I would have done the Ceiling/floor one.

They're eating in the Middle Ages, where eating, then making yourself throw up, then eating again was considered the norm for the noble class.
