I was wondering if you could get new armatars without AP? Or are we just stuck with the ones we have now.

You may want to email Ferret about that, or ask him on his profile. I think he sorts those things out.

Actually..I figured something out. Despite AP being gone..it seems, in a way, that it is still around. When the new system came, I had unlocked the grouping with the unicorns...after a while I went back in the armatars just to check it out and had the next grouping unlocked

You'll have the Armatars you've unlocked until the new ones are released.

I think you just underestimated how close you were to the next group.

Nope, only the ones available to you in the control panel section labeled "armatars".
