I think it was done on purpose. The lighting guy was probably a 9er fan and wanted to stop the Raven's momentum.

Since all Saints fans want to sabotage the chances of New Orleans getting the Super Bowl again.
I don't see why they couldn't keep playing. There was enough light to see.

Some of the cameras were down, so any reviews would be more faulty. Also, the scoreboard was out.

The team equipment for the 9ers was out. Coach had to stop yelling into his mic cause it broke.
