A Gnostic Atheist would make know sense.

Was this intentional? Because I had a good laugh.

Someone who knows there's a god but doesn't believe there is one?

Gnostic doesn't mean one knows there is a god.

agnostic - uncertain
gnostic - certain
atheist - no god
theist - god

gnostic + atheist = certain there is no god.
gnostic + theist = certain there is a god.
agnostic + atheist = uncertain but does not believe in any gods.
agnostic + theist = uncertain but does believe in some god.

For fun:

gnostic + agnostic = certain that they're uncertain.
agnostic + gnostic = uncertain if they're certain.
theist + atheist = believes in a god that doesn't believe in any gods.
atheist + theist = does not believe in a god that believes in a god.

theist + atheist = believes in a god that doesn't believe in any gods.

I have an urge to mess with people now by calling them theistic atheists. I also have realized that many theists believe all atheists are atheistic theists.

Sorry, when I get tired my brain decides to fly away and I either say insightful things or completely meaningless garbage. I think it's semi-random.

Oh my oh my yet another atheism topic...

So... there is something a lot of people seems to not understand. Answer these: do humans believe in any god when born? Isn't religion something we "get along the way"? Do you think you would believe in a completely different religion (just like a different language, different INSERT PERSONAL ASPECT HERE) if you were born in another country?
Answer these questions and you will conclude that atheism is just the natural state of belief, "normal" if you want. So you see, atheists win the god argument without even using logic or science. And yet, a lot of atheist get discriminated by his/her family, friends etc just because of this label... why? Because most people can't see outside of their backyard. But that it's another topic...
And don't get me started on those conservative families! I thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster every day for not being born in an ignorant, closed minded conservative family.

One final, personal thought: if something is too mainstream it's probably not worth of your time and attention.

If you answer yes to this question, do you really believe truth to be so malleable to the point that what is, really is different depending on the region you live in?

No, conservatives tend to be the ones who persecute those who disagree with their beliefs, like atheists.

I was referring to the ignorant, close minded part.

That's still generally conservatism. It's even been shown that those who are of low intelligence tend to gravitate toward conservative views.
