My GF sends me those all the time, except they aren't from fancy restaurants, they're just random meals she takes pictures of. I have about 12 of her "food porn" pictures in my library in case I need to refer back to any of them. I can't say I understand this craze.

Many social networks are popular because it's just that. A social network.

People want to connect with each other. Social networking sites makes this extremely easier for everyone as people only have to get on their computer or mobile device and wah-lah, you can talk to anyone online. This attracts a lot of attention of the people who want to be recognized in their social groups and statuses. Through word of mouth and other forms of communication, the appeal of social networking spreads as people sign up and log in to these kinds of sites everyday.
