So I've been planning on making this thread for quite awhile now, since 2012 as I recall, but as always, I procrastinated. Anywho, no, this is not a copy of Name That Song, I was taught this game in "The Real World" and played it there.

So here's how it works, someone, me to start, thinks of a dead person who must be famous. To avoid as much spam as possible, gives off certain details about him/her from the start. After that, everyone will try to guess who said dead guy is whilst asking 'yes' or 'no' questions about him. It would be preffered, so as to avoid spam, that unless you have a rather unique question, or are guessing the identity of the dead guy, that you ask more than one question per post.

E.G.
Person 1: I'm thinking of a dead male, caucasion with black hair
Person 2: did he did within the last 5 years and was a singer?
Person 1: Yes to both.
Person 2: Micheal Jackson.
Person 1: Yes. Chose your dead guy.

I'm going to start off with a dead caucasion male, black hair, was known for being on television and without further questioning I will go into no more details on what area of television.

Ask and guess away.

I'm thinking of a tall, Caucasian man who was on TV.

I'm glad that's not vague at all. As such, I'm going with Vincent Price.

Was he in comedy?

Also..just to be caught up..do I still hold the record for most correct guesses?

Incorrect. It helps to ask questions.

Was he on a TV show from the past 30 years?

No.

Was he in comedy?

Yes.

Andy Kaufman.

No.

Was he mostly (if not only) in black and white movies/TV shows?

Yes.

Did he have a radio show?

No.

Did he die in the last 15 years?

No.

Andy Griffith?

He and I are (were) about the same height. The man I'm thinking of would still be considered tall by today's standards.

Don Knotts?

Don Knotts was 5'7".

Was he a child actor?

No.

Did he did of natural causes?

Yes.

Was he famous for anything other than said TV show?

He starred in two TV shows in the same decade. His first film role was in a very famous, Oscar-winning American classic, and his last film role was in a well-known comedy from the past 25 years.

Was his most famous role that of a butler?

No.

Dang, I was sure it was Ted Cassidy. Is the man you're thinking of as tall as Ted Cassidy was?

Several inches shorter.

My question went unanswered.

I haven't paid much attention to this thread before this round, so I haven't the slightest, but I'm sure you can figure it out by looking through the thread itself.

did the actor himself win an oscar?

No. His role in the Oscar-winning film was a rather small one.

I have to say, I read through all of the clues you've given, and I was stumped completely... until I read gh0sts' comment:

Dang, I was sure it was Ted Cassidy.

Which made me think of the Addams Family, which made me think of a similar TV show from the same era, which made me think of the star of that show. I looked up the actor who played this character, and I think I hit the jackpot...

- He was tall and he was on TV (actually close to my height, but I'm pretty tall by most standards).
- He did star in two TV shows within the same decade, one from 1961-63, and the other, more famous one, from 1964-66; both of which were in black and white.
- He did not have a radio show nor was he a child actor,
- His first film role was in an Oscar-winning film starring Marlon Brando.
- His last film role was in a very funny, and actually Oscar-winning (Marisa Tomei for best supporting actress) comedy film.
- He died more than 15 years ago of natural causes.

If I'm not mistaken, the man you are looking for is Fred Gwynne! =)
