Welcome to The Lyceum, the first literary guild on Armor Games! The purpose of The Lyceum is to celebrate and support the arts on Armor Games. In the spirit of this mission, The Lyceum, and its members, will be supporting a general writing thread, in which all users are welcome to submit pieces of writing/poetry/etc. so that it may receive constructive comments where the user may gain insight on ways to improve their writing.

The Lyceum allows any general piece of writing/poetry/etc., but will also provide a theme, given by one of the founders, for a certain period of time (similar to how the writing contests do so). The purpose for the themes is to give users a subject in which to work with, as to avoid those pesky "writer's blocks".

General Submissions

-A user may submit any piece of writing/poetry/etc. at any time.
-A title must go along with the submitted work, so as to allow those providing feedback at least a general insight as to what the work is about.
-The Lyceum respects all intellectual property; plagiarism will not be tolerated.
-If it is found out that a user has plagiarized, said user shall be banned from The Lyceum.

Themed Submissions

-The entered piece must fit the theme. Feedback provided will also take into account the presentation and mastery of the theme.
-A title is not necessary, but there must be at least a notification that the submission regards the theme suggestion.
-The Lyceum respects all intellectual property; plagiarism will not be tolerated.
-If it is found out that a user has plagiarized, said user shall be banned from The Lyceum.

Hierarchy of The Lyceum

The Lyceum follows a hierarchical system, made to allow the most efficient up-keeping of the guild.
-Founders
The Founders of The Lyceum are those that maintain the overall condition of the guild. This level is set-in-stone, no members may join the ranks of Founder, as that would go against the meaning of the word.
*What they do: Run the guild, vote on Member inductees, vote on Judge inductees, create themes, etc.
-Judges
The Judges are those that provide assistance to the Founders in regards to inducting a new member. They are also expected to act with the utmost integrity and honesty. If so seen fit, a Judge may lose his/her position.
*What they do: Vote on Member inductees
-Members
The Members are those that hold the honorary title of the same name. To be a member of The Lyceum means that the user has been recognized by the Founders and/or Judges as an author of high quality and merit. They are also expected to act with the utmost integrity and honesty. If so seen fit, a Member may lose his/her position.

Becoming a Judge

To become a Judge, a Founder must nominate a user, and receive a majority vote. No vote response from a Founder in 7 days of the request means they abstain. It is possible that a user may pass with just the nomination vote, although the chances of such an event happening are extremely slim.

A nominee must also be a Member of The Lyceum to be considered for nomination. Keep in mind, though, that just because you were a Member longer than another, that does not mean you have a better chance at being selected for nomination to become a Judge.

Becoming a Member

To become a Member, notify either a Founder or leave a message in The Lyceum stating that you wish to take the trial to become one. The user must write two pieces of work, a sonnet and a short story (1,000 word limit)..each receiving its own theme as dictated by a Founder. The deadline will be 3 weeks after receiving the themes, and after both pieces are submitted, the Founders and Judges will judge quality of said works and the writing ability the user shows. The user must receive a majority decision to become a member, and a tie in the voting process results in a hung decision. No vote response from a Founder or Judge in 5 days of the submissions means they abstain.

A user may attempt to become a member as many times as possible, but must wait 3 weeks before trying again.

Miscellaneous Notes

-General feedback may be given by any and all users, whether they are a part of the guild or not.
-Keep in mind, however, that your feedback may be subjected to feedback as well (no matter what title you hold).
