Something I came across today which I thought was pretty cool, here's my loadout:

http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/907/ckns.png

Comfortable clothing, M14 rifle with silencer, scope and flashlight, knife for meele encounters, two boxes of spare ammo and a ton of food because chances are once I find a safezone I wouldn't want to leave there for a long time

Post your own and add a sentence or two about your choices.

this is the ultimate loadout:
-meat knife(u must cut some serious flesh)
-nokia 3310 on a stick(bashing heads is necessary too)
-magnum 44
-any rifle with belt ammo and a scope mounted on it(no one has time for reloading)
-mountain dew(makes u better at 360 noscoping thanks to placebo effect, and 360 noscoping keeps ur morale high)
-tons of antivirals(if there would be a zombie apocalypse, it would be because of a virus)
-doritos(for eating w/ mountain dew)
-two crates full of water jugs and bread(i cant run on dew & doritos)

Here's my loadout:
Two katanas (one is enough but one could break)
A Steven's Model 77E 12 gauge shotgun
3 boxes of 12 gauge shells
No food. In all honesty I'll eat whatever i find. Even humans (yes im dead serious)
At least five throwing knives and three more knives of various sizes
44. Magnum Model 629 Stealth Hunter, with quickload cylinder and six boxes of ammo
Comfortable, flexible suit of kevlar weave. Padded boots to avoid detection from zombies and human survivors. Gauntlets with hardened knuckles and hidden blades for close encounters. A simple black balaclava with no attachments.
Last and most importantly- a companion of my choice with their own custom loadout.

Why all this specific gear? Weapons and comfortable, durable clothing are most important. There are bound to be more survivors in the world that you can either join up with or kill for their supplies (depends on the situation)
