Now that the 'most wonderful time of the year' is over, Santa's gone back to the Northpole, the Christmas tree is put back in the attic and the snowman (probably) melted, we're coming up to an annual day of love and affection!
Ahuh... ahuh... that's right! Sooo... who's YOUR secret sweetheart?! Got anyone particular in mind?! Did you buy him/her a nice Valentine's present?! Maybe some flowers, chocolate or a beautiful card?! Yes?! Or... perhaps you're feeling creative and you're making your very own custom special delux Valentine's Card!! BUT WAIT!! First we need you to show an effort and submit some wonderful creations of art for our contest! *whispers* So you can practice on your drawing skills and amaze him/her! *winks* Well, the rules are still the same! Here they are...
# ARMATAR CONTEST GUIDELINES :
1) All entries must be appropriate. They cannot be offensive or profane in nature. Keep it clean!
2) The entry must be square, and at least 100x100 pixels in dimension.
3) Your entry must scale down well to 100x100. So if it is larger, make sure that it will still look good when it is scaled down to the actual armatar size. Here are a few suggestions about this :
~ Sometimes keeping it simple is better. If you go into a lot of detail, it might not look as great when you scale it down. So keep in mind what the final size will be and check often how it looks when it is scaled down.
~ Remember to save a lot while you are making it! Better to delete 20 -in between made- save files later on, than ending up with something you actually don't like...
~ If you are able to do vector, by all means! That can help with the sharpness of the image. However, since they are so small this is probably not a big issue.
4) Must be completely original. You cannot use elements from other pieces of artwork, the entire armatar must be 100% created by you.
Plagiarism will not only exclude your submission by means of disqualification, it will also exclude you from participation in any future contests AND will have further consequences!
5) Must be fitting to the current contest's theme. If a certain entry is debatable to whatever extend, a mod or admin will give the decisive and final ruling for submission.
The contest will remain open untill a few days after Valentine's day, so there's plenty of time for you to enter your artwork!
Are you ready? Then grab your pencils and paper, and/or your mouse and start making your wonderful original works of art! As always, be creative! Amaze us! =)
Oh shute! (oO) I still don't have any presents!! Right, I'm off to the store!! B-BYE!! *runs*

Hearts aren't the only thing that symbolize love
sure, but when its specifically valentines day the easiest and most common would be hearts :/ its be easier if this was the "love" contest, many more things and ideas would come much more smoothly. so i honestly dont think many great submissions will be made that doesnt have hearts but shows love. but it does give me ideas that i might do
sure, but when its specifically valentines day the easiest and most common would be hearts :/
Thats the point. The hearts are simple to make and are clearly very common, too common even. They were fine at first, but now they seem done to death. I don't mean to offend anyone by this or anything. Also, you don't always have to settle with what would be easy. Brainstorm some, work a bit more and ta-da! Originality! The more unique, the better!
And besides, the ones that stand out from the crowd are more likely to get picked. Good luck
the ones that stand out from the crowd
my best one was the cup of love one i made :Y
Mine was the heart being shattered by a bullet. o_o
it's the arrowhead of cupids arrows
the full size arrow
Knight seeking the princess with a curly hair and blue/greenish eyes.
Still waiting for the heart made out of hearts
Sorry mate, I thought it was a woman's bottom at first!
Valentine's Day may be more limiting than Halloween but it certainly isn't hard to come up with ideas for.
I'll be honest, I've scrapped about 70% of my ideas due to not having enough artistic ability to draw them. Hearts are easy to draw, especially when MS Paint has a tool specifically for placing hearts.
But if I wanted to draw a teddy bear, for example, I'd need a more steady drawing hand. It's a hopeless cause at this point, even drawing it from a reference.
I've attempted a romantic sunset multiple times, but I haven't yet gotten to the point where it isn't a complete and utter failure. I'll keep working on this idea, because it requires very few lines and therefore can't be screwed up completely by my shaky pixel mouse hand.
Hand draw it, then edit and colour it digitally Ernie!
Doesn't that require a scanner?
I got this idea from an image I saw while searching for sunsets on Google.
Technically follows the heart theme, but still original enough to be deemed...original.
got abit more creative
man getting a kiss on the cheek on valentines day
You no haz scanner?
