I just wanted to point out something, I have seen some debate about weather or not the amplifiers are good or not. Just did a comparison, basically I loaded a high level mana farm gem and then surrounded it with amplifiers 3 levels lower. 6 amplifiers. I am only counting mana, it was a quad gem, RWOB

Level 45 No Amplifiers - quad mana farm Gem
Mana Leach - 2,533,479,568.01
Hits per second - 1561.35

Level 45 6 Amplifiers level 42 (Pure Orange) - quad mana farm Gem
Mana Leach - 8,285,046,658.16
Hits per second - 2974.21

Now I am not sure if the hits per second is already calculated or not, and I am also not sure if the chain hit is calculated as well. If it is not already calculated in the total mana leach then the difference is extensive just multiplying the hits per second gives you these numbers, not counting the chain.

no amplifiers 3,955,648,323,512.41
pure orange amplifiers 24,641,468,621,166.10

as I level this up, and the gems get around 50 for the farm gem and 47 for the amplifiers then it is more like 20,000,000,000 vs 50,000,000,000 and many more hits per second.

So if you are going to beat endurance on haunting, with all set to max, you are going to need to amplify your stuff.

ok let the battle begin.... GO!!!

If only the game actually calculated almost 3000 hits per second =P

Yep, amplifiers are crucial for high-level mana farms. Also, amplifiers don't get penalties for amplifying multiple towers or traps at once (unlike in CGL), so they can give a huge boost to multiple gems for low cost.

However, the damage boost seems to be insignificant. I guess that's where the myth "amplifiers suck in GC2" comes from.
