I was experimenting for the last 2 hours attempting to create a more bloodbound-oriented gem that would eventually be better than the current 32-spec gem. After at least 6 ratio failures and many more supergem failures, I stumbled on this jackpot.

This is the Standard 32-spec triple gem-

This is my Gem of Subtle Fury-

Looks inferior? It is! For a while anyway.

Here are the gems I used to 1:63 both to squish the red more(gaining a universal 3.7% mana leech). I replaced the red in both formulas with orange.

The 32-spec-

After two iterations of the 64-combine, here is the 32-specced gem with 400 hits-

Same hit level, just pointing that out.

Now, the kicker. In a trap with G16 64-combined pure O amps...

The 32 spec-

Aaaaaaand....the Gem of Subtle Fury(dang I like this name!) -

Only a 0.2% difference....but the GoSF was inferior with both having no hits. Which means it gets better the higher they both go in hit levels. Again, its hardly anything, but it IS better. Numbers don't lie.

Here's the horrid Paint drawing of the formula. The ONLY things I changed were Red's position and introducing black to the orange earlier. Incredible, huh?

If it's too confusing, basically this is how I built the top portion(19 G1s equivalent), the bottom is identical.

Create G1 Orange
Create G1 Red
Combine
Create G1 Black
Combine G2 RO into B
Create G2 Orange and 2 G1 Orange
Combine the G2 O with both G1s
Combine the Triple onto that.
Create Dual Orange Black G2
Create G1 Black
Combine Dual with G1 Black
Combine Triple with Dual.
Create G2 Orange and G1 Black
Combine Orange onto Black
Combine Triple with the new Dual.
Create G2 O, G1 O, G1 B, G2 B.
Combine G2 O onto G1 O, G1 B, G2 B in that order.
Combine result with Triple.

That's the top part.

Cool, huh? Shows what experimenting can uncover

Unamped, the "old" gem has a bit less base damage, and a little bit more critical multiplier.

I'm not about to go attempting to create my own gems, but I'm kind of wondering whether the "best" 32 spec killgem is going to be even more black-centric. The "old" gem (the one in psoreks end-game guide) is 12Y:19B.

That new gem is 8:23.

I'm kind of curious as to whether that is the best ratio, or if the best ratio might be as low as 1:30 or 2:29. There needs to be *some* yellow for the amps to work with, but as you said, Black is the highest base damage gem (White seems better, but factor out the pool level ... and its very middle of the pack), and the Bloodbound multiplies both the base damage and the critical multiplier.

That would be interesting... 11 yr would make things much easier

Well the 8:23 is for the managem in particular...

Yup. I took it and changed colors, into a killing gem

Still waiting to see the 64 spec gems that psorek comes up with.

That said, that gem is also a ratio change from his old 32 spec managem, as well. 1 red : 17 orange : 14 Black has been changed to 1 red 8 orange 23 black. That's a very significant shift, and leads one to question only a couple orange for a managem just as much as only a couple yellow for a killing gem.

If he also comes up with a new kill-gem spec, I'm going to build a kill-gem from g1-gems, where black has a max damage of (at least) 36k with no hits and yellow with (atm) 26k
Still manafarming on J1 with gem enhancement shrine )

He's said in kiwi that the killgem in his guide is very bad, horribly inefficient. So, I'm hoping he comes out with something real good.

Hey, don't destroy my believe in computed gem-combining-shemes...

it isn't very bad, but I haven't proven it's the best I'm now trying to do it better.

Hey, good luck!
Btw: Acutal g1-max damage (horrible shrine-charging-time)
black: 53.817 (incuding 1.36 bound-multiplier)
yellow: 30.080

Psorek, your 32 spec gem, found in your end game guide, is definitely NOT the best. I think I've proven that conclusively enough in this thread.

I just don't happen to know what the best gem would actually be. I do not know that the new 32 spec gem recipe you made, for +1 amps, is the best wither. I only know that it is better than the other gems.

Alright, for doing hardest settings x and y maps, I got to see black trump white pretty easily (at least a gem grade worth). FYI, end of regular waves starts to push 10^21 hp, armor of course is always laughable (needed to get a 70 or 80+ minimum rarity talisman part).

16 combine v regular upgrade: close to double special at grade 39 cost for 10% less damage and things that don't matter. Minorly more tedious, but a distraction from angering I guess. The GCL combination of pure to mix same grade for a slight boost works here, but taking advantage of the one less grade combination bug is way too huge to ignore.

I'll get %s on a few less tedious combos for like gems, as waiting for grade + 3 is rough on maps with a low number of starting waves (those have some great setups: short path to a choke point and orb on other side of screen).

I also did a little gem combo. Could get one of the specials in a triple better than the first example, but wasn't very straight forward. Easy to screw up and get something worse than shift + g.

Can check out perma-frost now, have enough boosters for that cheese. Oh, farming hits for black gems sucks

Use 64 combine and 1/8/23 r/o/b 32spec

Black is easy to farm(if you pro :P) got 31 billion hits.

Ok, kind of neglected raising the gems involved in this test, until now. Same gems, no hits, no barrage. Grade 70 with Grade 71 amps :

Old
75,312,575,420,242,400,000 - 3.69104299057313e21 damage
80% chance of x116,189,145,178,287,400 damage
6,445.59 chain hit
x985.25 Bloodbound (+957.247/hit level)

New
79,420,895,820,460,820,000 - 3.88160920914167e21 damage
80% chance of x118,754,687,793,014,540 damage
6,509.19 chain hit
x998.77 Bloodbound (+997.769/hit level)

Old : 4.288591298910013820200681403681e+38
New : 4.609592897661092562189035955486e+38
Difference : 3.21001598751078741988354551805e+37
Percent difference : 7.485%

I wonder if it is going to exceed 7.5%?
