I figured let's create a master thread for the world event of the year. After all, who won't be watching people jockey viciously for the position of most powerful person in the world?

As of now the situation is as thus:

Republican - Trump running ahead of the pack surprisingly.
Democrat - Less clear, Clinton and Sanders are still duking it out, though Clinton has many more super-delegates to her name.

So this is a thread to post about anything related to the race. Have a favourite candidate to plump for? Feel the system is biased? Angry at the political establishment? Post it here. Hopefully we can get more discussion going when things get heated up!

Personally of all the candidates, I like Clinton the most, and failing that, Trump. Of course, like is a very subjective and relative word.

-Latest-

Republican
Trump: 329
Cruz:231
Rubio: 110
Kasich: 25
Carson: Dropped out

Democrat

Counting Super Delegates
Clinton: 1066
Sanders: 432

Now we've seen how the Trump administration handles a silly trifle. How will they fare with the actually important issues?

Like North Korea testing new missiles?
I don't even want to think about it.

Tronald Dump is demanding an investigation about the election because Clinton won the popular vote.

He can't stand the fact that he wasn't the most popular.
Or is it that he was supposed to win everything because it was rigged on his favor, somehow the cheating didn't work in a couple states so the cheater got cheated?

He can't stand the fact that he wasn't the most popular.

He is most certainly a pathological narcissist. I say that not as an insult, but as an observation made by several people who should know. He can't stand being criticized - in any way - and his replies usually contain direct and personal attacks/insults. He is the kind of person that is not content with winning, everyone else has to lose.

And it keeps getting worse. Have you seen his latest executive order?

Btw, the Guardian has a daily updated overview of Trump's first 100 days here. Always good to have it all in one place...

We might have to endure 4 more years of it and, if they manage to cheat the results again, we might be stuck with this nonsense for 8 years.

By the time he's done, the US is going to be a wasteland with no allies left, no credibility, totally disrespected by the World and hated by all.

Gotta hand it to the Brooklyn Federal Court at least. Judge Ann Donnelly ruled against the Muslim ban, now prohibiting authorities from deporting people with valid visas and Green cards at the airport (which was estimated to be 100 to 200).

So, it may be a small step, but it is a step in the right direction I believe

This raises very interesting questions about the separation of powers in government.

Will people now accept that judges are inherently powerful, and make law in some form of another, even though they claim not to? Opinions and political bias aside, is this a good or bad thing?

There is after all, an underlying distrust of the judiciary because of their a) Small number b) Unelected status c) The wrong belief that the Founding Fathers did not want the judiciary to intervene d) Wrong understanding of how the common law develops.

We must not forget that the judiciary was conceived as being an equal partner in government, along with the President and the Senate/Congress, although its role needs to be demarcated and limited clearly.

It is after all, one thing to strike down or allow the passage of a law based on legal arguments and quite another to decide it on policy grounds.

If anything, Trump's staying true to his pre-election promises People voted him for promising to end illegal immigration, Muslim terrorism and the like, with his own ideas about how to do so, he is trying to do the things he said he would. Even if said things are criticized, to say the least.

That illegitimate president who came to power following a coup has just fired the Attorney General because she deemed the Muslim ban to be unconstitutional.
In other word, she was fired for doing her job.

Hopefully more people will pressure the congressmen to reject the Trump candidates for his cabinet.
We need to boycott all the business owned by Republicans to push them to impeach this traitor.

Haha, the voices from both sides are so extreme.

"Traitor"
"Betrayal"
"Illegitimate"
"Resistance"

Etc, etc.

From what I've read, Washington, Virginia, NY and Massachusets are moving against Trump legally, suing him for the Muslim ban. amazon also pledged support, a symbolic move but important at that, considering the size of that online retailer

I think this creates even more interesting questions based on nicho's line of thinking. Where does the separation of powers and responsibilities take place in the government? If individual states can take action against the POTUS, where does their power end and the president's power begin?

Republicans have been sabotaging the process for years.

The House, The Senate and the Supreme Court provide checks and balances and are supposed to prevent abuse by the president or a party.

With the Republican criminals controlling all branches, how can they be kept in check?

It's up to us the people to put an end to their criminal activities.
There'll never be peace until this party of traitors is eradicated from existence!

But if that's true, why did the 4 aforementioned states legally move against the POTUS? why did a Federal Court Judge make the Muslim ban illegal?as you can clearly see it's not just the people that are moving against him in any way they can.

It's just a matter of time until dictator Trump rid himself of all these good people and replace them with corrupted puppets. He has no respect for the Constitution what so ever. In his twisted mind, he think he's the king and whomever disagree is the enemy.

Even the White House spokesperson (Spencer ) aka Eric Cartman behaves like Drumpf.

By Electing this lunatic, people have open the door for any criminal to run for office now.
