Great entries everyone! A lot of deep poems here, it took me awhile but I think I've finally decided.

A Trip Down Memory LaneMy flashlight is dim,
Batteries near depleted,
Fails to pierce the dusk.
Vague phantasms linger,
Just out of reach of the light,
Refuse all longing.
Blurred shapes they possess,
But nebulous like putty,
Defy perception.
I focus on one,
Nearest, least oblivious,
Shrink from my object.
It exudes feelings,
Dim familiarity,
Lacks any fullness.
A key there must be,
Unlocking this door broken,
Slips into Babel.
So alone stand I,
Entranced and irresolute,
Repulse this icon.
The presence attracts,
A friend, much loved, long absent,
Thrusts toward abyss.
Interest succumbs,
Energy ebbing slowly,
Rejects solution.
My flashlight darkens,
Illumination destroyed,
Leaves a ghost dwelling.
Your poem of combined haikus once again has left me amazed. I love your use of words here. The story being told behind the dramatic picture being painted was amazing. Indeed it was a trip down memory lane, the title taken literally, but still having an essence of it's own meaning. Great job!

Thoughts Composed on our Ineffable JourneyHad we but time to spend and share.
To dole out without consequence, so that
We too may take up arms against the flow of time;
That ineffable tide. Then, I too, would compose
Such thoughts as yet to be heard.
Alas, the tide rolls in and out. Never ceasing,
For to cease is to never be; and to never have been.
And, had we time to spend and share, to
Stare blissfully unaware at that crystalline sky;
Then, I too, would lay down to rest.
All these things to come, those that have gone,
Those that are. Hold fast. Hold fast, so that you
Too may have time to spend and share. To gaze upon
That last setting sun, to feel that sea breeze,
To walk those winding steps and say,
"I too, have seen it done."
The story that I get from this is like seeing one blissful memory, one amazing experience. That is the picture that is painted in my mind. Your use of words and your vocabulary is also beautiful. Overall, just amazing.
