I got an HTML book and i followed it exactly and did this:
<a href="http://www.armorgames.com">Armor Games</a>.
And it never works. So am i doing something wrong then because it is not working, or do i just have a bad code?

Erm...I am no master of code but that should generally work.
UNLESS you try and do it here on AG. Because as far as I know, BB code is only accepted. So try using is elsewhere.

It has nothing to do with HTML, AG does not support HTML only BBcoding
This link is very helpful, it will tell you how to do it. There is no undelining, but there is quoting instead.
