In my opinion tolkien is better because he made up the middle-earth an wrote the lord of the rings and the hobbit!
Don't forget Tolkein wrote The Silmarrilion too. He's definitely better.
I would say Tolkien. He is one of the best fiction writers out there, and has given a lot of the more recent authors inspiration.
Tolkien, he lead the gate way to a new kind of writing.
This is a hard 1. I love both writers sooo Id have to say they tie.
