SO i was thinking...i wanna try my stab at some armatasr in flash and i was wondering to myself how the artist makes them. Then i figured i would do some in depth research! Turns out i found out how they do it!

A) Find an image off google that looks good enough for an armatar (only use it for inspiration)
http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/09_01/tigerDM0309_468x478.jpg

^So we have it picked out.

B) Trace image in flash and color in with color in vector format and walla!

So that tiger was the image used for inspiration for this armatar:

C) Watch me take my n00b stab at making it in flash ^_^
Well, too bad im not going to do it lol im going to be lazy and just use a button to make it be drawn in flash with a lot of detail. But note more detail is sometimes bad so ^_^

Have a look in Aldi Strop...

I once went in there and they had $300 tablets which I didn't buy...but afterwards looked the type up on the net and found it was worth about $1000...

lol - If you do buy a tablet...make sure it doesnt have bum rash...xD

Actually, on the subject of tablets...I'm well and truly sick of using the mouse...takes too long.

So I'm looking at a Wacom Intuos 3 A4 sized tablet. That's about 750AUD (which, these days, is about the same in US dollars anyway).

750 bucks!!!!!!!!! Does anybody have any more cost-effective recommendations?

Lol... no cost effective recommendations honestly you want to go all out for a good tablet. It will cost you lots but it's necessary and it isn't something you should be cheap on. It's like a professional chef buying cheaper knives instead of the best of the best! For your own sake just buy the 1000$ one.

Aldi sells tablets!?

...

There's an Aldi just down the road...I'll go check it out...

If I buy one that's too large I won't be able to use it! I may be somewhat professional standard but I'm not a career artist! x.x

Here's a penguin with varying levels of tracing quality:

http://www.freewebs.com/programpro/Penguin_Armats_bmp.bmp

the last one is one I manually drawn by me.

And I don't think that's how they make the armatars. I mean, look at KlausHouse's. That's art, not a traced bitmap or jpg or whatever.

Looks very cool! But as far as how it is originally done, the artist actually hand draws them all, and then draws them on the computer. So not quite this method. But it looks cool nonetheless
