Battleship- Son of Man o' War (aka) Big Red
His biggest achievement was when he became a Steeplechaser The horses that race each other while jumping over jumps. In 1938 Battleship became the first American horse to win the Grand National. The most famous steeplechase at the time. He was called the American Pony when he arrived because he was so small. It was a photo finish and America knew when Battleship had one. (there was a little neat saying my mom used to say but i can't remeber it o well).
