Well, we recently implemented this into our site and it is truly working great! The idea is that we have a category for member introductions! This way we won't have to reach out to new members and help them. They could simply post saying "wazzzzzzup" and we could reach out to the this way! I wuv diz ideaz! But that is just me so....
I really don't think there should be AP allowed in that section then. Someone could easily post "Welcome to AG!" in all the newbie threads which would be spam. I do think it would be nice for members to introduce themselves properly.
These intro forums are annoying, but Newbie thread has been brought up by Asherlee a bunch and if she can't get it up then I don't think this thread will do much. You could have an intro thread in the newby forum if it ever works.
I don't believe so, a newbie or intro forum could be AP-free, and makes the forums seem more user friendly. Almost every forum I've been on has one, as long you can't gain AP, its a great idea.
