I am posting this thread because my phone got wet about a week ago at a pool party. My friends all told me to take the battery out and just wait 3-5 days. It still didn't work yesterday but my co-worker told me to put the battery and phone each in bowls of dry rice. Today, my cell phone works perfectly! So, here is a "walkthrough" on how to fix a wet phone...

1) Get it out of the water. (Simple enough, eh?)
2) Remove the battery as soon as possible.
3) Let it dry out 1-2 days just on a table.
4) Now put the battery and the phone in bowls of dry rice. DO NOT COOK THE RICE BEFOREHAND
5) Wait 1-3 days and then try the phone.

If you experience problems, don't worry. You just have to put it in the rice for another day probably. The key with rice is because it absorbs the water from inside the phone and battery. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I think this is better then paying a lot of money to fix it. I don't guarantee this method will work but it works around 90% of the time. Nearly everyone gets their phone wet at least once.

I was just wondering how did you find this out? I mean did you just have a bowl of rice laying around and chuck your phone into it?

I was pushed into a pool with mine in my pocket. I have heard of the blowdryer method but some say it could damage the phone.

I figured you'd make a post like this. Because I just commented you and you said your phone works after being drenched. Anyway, thanks, ill use that next time I drop my phone in my pool.

My co-worker told me so I got a bag of rice for $2 and then poured it into two bowls. Then I put the battery in one bowl and the phone in the other.

Really cool, my friend got his phone wet and he got a new one for 100 bucks... a lot more than $2 for the rice.

I doubt anything will fix the iPhone. The main reason is because there is so much technology in it that it can be damaged easily. The other reason is because it is easy for water to enter it. Don't you have to buy a whole new phone when the iPhone gets even a little broken?

Huh, that's pretty cool. I microwaved my MP3 player after I dropped it in the toilet. Just set it for baked potato and came back to get it. I really don't suggest trying that, 'cause now the sound warps at quiet parts.

If you are going to heat your phone in the oven, MAKE SURE TO TAKE OUT THE BATTERY! Otherwise, the phone is screwed for good. Anyways, just so you guys are more tempted to do this in case it happens to you, this is what I would have paid.

$70 for a new battery
$100 for a new phone
Around $125 to pay for the water damage on the old phone
$295 total
or
$2 for rice
$3 for two bowls
$5 total

Florglee you could get brain cancer if you were to use that phone again, I bet.I say the best method is to be more careful. If you go into a pool with a phone then that's your fault. Also something my friend showed me about cell phones is that they all have electro-magnets in them.If you want to try put a cell phone next to your computer and use your house phone or another cell phone and call it.Notice how the screen starts to make some extremely odd effects and how it looks like something from a horror movie or something. This won't hurt your computer necessarily, but it will look like it for as long as you are calling that cell phone.

It's not a phone, it's an MP3 player, and I bought new headphones for it.
