Should Parkor otherwise known as FreeRunning be in the Olympics? If so, how would it work? Would a course be constructed? What kind of things should judges look for? I personally think it would be amazing to watch. What do you all think?

Wow! What a great idea! Alot of freestyle events are being added to the Olympics, like freestyle snowboarding, etc. They could create a random course, without the competitors knowing, and they would have to get to the other end. And the judges would score them, on difficulty of moves, gaps, etc. And the types of things they do, and the form they have. Parkour is amazing to watch. That is an awesome idea! I Completely think it should be added. My friend went free running on campus last year, late late at night and he came back with gashes on his arms, and when I asked what happened, he said he jumped off the second story of our social science building, onto a palm tree. haha

Thanks, it just kinda hit me. Funny about your friend.
I like your idea about keeping the course secret. I think it would be one of most watched part of the games.

This is idea that has been in my mind lately as well, I think it would be absolutely awesome to have Parkour and/or FreeRunning (they are two different things) in the Olympics. That would hands down, be the best event to watch.

Ya seriously! That would really be so cool! I feel like, why is it not on now, I would love to watch that. Free runners do such cool stuff. Or you know what? You know how the marathon takes place in a sectioned off part of the city? Well, they could section off a part of the city where there are a lot of obstacles, and have them do it there, so its like a natural setting. That would be an extremely entertaining event.

Sectioned off part of the city. Brilliant. It would showcase a part of the city of whatever country we're in, which is cool by itself, plus it makes me more true to the sport. We should pitch this to the Internationl Olympic Commity.

Ya how would we propose it to them? I checked out the IOC website, but I don't know if they allow suggestions.

Yea, often they are mistaken as the same thing but they are a little bit different. Although they are similar, Parkour is the sport of moving ones body through an environment as fast as possible using the surroundings to boost you and to do so without losing momentum.
Free Running is similar but there is more focus on doing 'cool tricks' - rather than having a goal for established purpose (such as doing a back flip off a roof)
Definitions according to AmericanParkour.com: Parkour
Free Running
If one of them were to be in the olympics I would assume Parkour would be first, that would be so awesome.

It is a good idea and i dont mean any disrepect 2 any free runners out there but i dont think it should be in the Olypics. The whole point of free running is in the name 'free'. IE it is spontaneous. Putting it in the Olympics and judging it would take the creativity out of it. Also how would you judge it? Wot would it be a race or skills n tricks an things like that? It seems that many people are up for the idea of it but havent thought it thru.
