Oh, so if you become a mod, they tell you what you did right? That's a new piece of info.
I never said that. There are just certain standards and characteristics that mods look for in recruiting new mods. It is mostly personal judgement.
So many people act like the mods sit there looking through a person's history with a calculater "Ok so they have 20 merits, thats worth 300 mod points, they reported 15 people, thats another 250. Ooh, they cussed, thats -1000 points. Oh they had a good idea thats 150 more points. they are 5600 points away from being a mod!"
They just have to be smart, figure out what they did, can they be trusted, do they know how to handle tough situations. They know the right thing to do, but is it the best? Is this person known for bragging or showing off? Is this person actually enjoying the site or are they just going for most points or merits? Are they trying to become a mod? If so then why?
Im not sure if mods ask all those questions, but if I was a mod those are the questions I would ask about a member before even considering making them a mod.

You had me laughing there.

I think you do deserve to be one. But I'm not going to do anything about it.

Do you know what there should be? Moderators for different subjects. Moderators who have restricted action and can only do their work in the community area, some who work around peoples profiles, others who look for merit worthy comments and so on. Then there are really good mods who work in everythinPr

I don't think that would be such a good idea. If a mod wasn't online and there was a problem in that section, the other mods couldn't do a thing. I think they should have mod tools everywhere.

Lol, that is totally true too ^_^ People think that is they get a few more merits, that they might just tip the scales to becoming a mod. We don't have an actual formula for it. Some people just have the qualities, and others don't.

Let's not forget the ever growing problem of people backseat modding -- the closest they'll ever get to feeling like an actual moderator:
"Do not post below the line!!!"
"Guys, you know this is spam. Anyway, on topic..."
"Argument, argument, argument -- I don't know what we're talking about anymore. Nobody else post!"
Most people want to be moderator...but what's the big hubbub? Do people have the dedication to be on the website and check in whenever they can? Or do they just want to be popular, just to feel in this gap of being wanted? The motivation sure is wrong if it's the latter, and if you ask me, if the motivation is wrong, then it shouldn't be done.

i notice that mods dont always get into some topics like most other users do...thats mostly cause they got more important stuff to do right? or scouting... anyway normally when mods post its cause they are locking the thread or saying that its a good one (or something)so i hope no mod stops going on the forums (less than usual) just because they are a mod or became one...
