You have to realise, anything we try to do with particle accelerators is happening millions of times more often and millions of times more powerfully at the top of our atmosphere where high energy cosmic rays are pounding down on the Earth. If this hasn't led to the destruction of mankind in the last 4 billion years, the LHC is going to be fine.

uummm I thought this experiment wasn't supposed to happen for another 5 months? that's what my dad said he saw on the news, so I looked it up on the internet and got a whole bunch of different dates, maybe thats a good thing though especially if there was a good chance we could all be sucked into a black hole, we'd never know when it was going to happen :p
