well, i would say, for your purposes, a headset one because it automatically maintains constant volume because it is at the same distance from your mouth all the time. also, if you have a desktop one, you would have to hunch over to speak into it if the wire was too short...and hunching over does a lot of bad stuff to you...

i think this one is good...

Okay, do you know where I could get one from a store? (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.)

yea i think so.
anyways, you should mainly look for background sound cancellation, and find an omnidirectional mic. When its omnidirectional, it only take in sound from one direction - your mouth. also, you should look for the highest sound recording quality possible.
