Right, so I pulled out of the previous GFX round due to not being able to finish on time. Since then I've been working on the image on-and-off and now it's finished only about a week late.

The picture shown below is half the size, the fullsize one can be found by clicking on the picture.

The full resolution pic (1280xs1024) is low quality...the high quality version is 1.1Mb and doesn't fit on photobucket xD Lame. Except I feel justified with the size...this was hand-drawn from start to finish.

I should have tidied up the sketchlines more, but wasn't actually intending to spend this much effort on it. Meh.

Here we go, page three of the pilot chapter.

I will be switching programs for the next few pages to see what happens! I'm not sure this presentation is the style I want.

Uh, wrong link. For some reason the network internal settings where I'm at block auto-copying scripts from Photobucket.

it's really hard to draw and colour for so many pics, how long did you take for each box?

Because I'm doing these really scrappily (they are practice), each whole page takes me anywhere between two to three hours, total. I start with a general overview in redline, then I draw the frames and speech bubbles (the tedious part). Then I do the lineart (which I have to develop further, so this may eventually take longer as I clean it up). Then I color, first the base layer, then the shadows and midtone layers, then the highlight layers.

I may change program to color, and see what I end up liking more.

Wow Strop this whole thread is very impressive

I think they should make the deadline in GFX longer so you can go back in.

Go back in? But I still enter the GFX competitions! I just missed 'technology' because I had to move all my stuff halfway across the state.

I don't consider myself a very patient artist but I can easily spend 6-7 hours on a piece (e.g. my submission for the GFX "box" round), and in some cases up to 20. I lack the scope and canvas to do much more than that though, for example, Michelangelo spending some two years on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

This little section of the story is just beginning, hehe. I'm going to have to backtrack all the way to the start (warning: when I do get it up and running, it will definitely be at least an MA15+ if not NC17+). I decided to take a break from that yesterday and instead did something that's been long overdue: pictures of strop!

This is pretty much as 'official' as I can get: all the numbers are accurate at the time of writing.

And here's the other half of the sheet:

The full, single image version can be found on my DevianrART.

Back to the rabbit story!
