the ancient Sumerian knowledge that a race of beings, depicted as the "gods" in creation myths and religions, visited the earth in the distant past from a planet known to them as Nibiru (Planet X) and genetically manipulated hominid DNA on earth.
what if that really happened some other race came here and manipulated dna on earth to create us?

this is what we call religion Craker. For all we know Sumerians thought that these "gods" were just like them only had much more wisdom and knowledge. They then crowned them as gods and listened to whatever they said. They have NO evidence that they actually manipulated our DNA

Well yeah basically this must have just been religion or belief on there part.
Kind of like how like how Terrorists think there going to heaven for killing, and Christians think Jesus is the one and only.
It is a simple belief, there is no evidence favoring it other than what the Sumerians said.
So I'm going to say no, until some real evidence comes out.

There are two main theories of how life came to be on this planet (creationism and evolution), and neither claims that aliens were the ones who created us. Most people do not believe that aliens created us. That being said, creationism and evolution are both [i]theories[i] and cannot be proven. People can believe without a shadow of a doubt about how people came to exist, but no one can know for certain.

I'll resurrect, posting a question... Does any of you think humans would go out into space and one day when our technology is advanced enough, if coming across a planet with the potential for life... Actually doing this. Manipulating that life to become something intelligent (after human standards)?

That depends : P If we get to the point where we are at 30 billion people and the earth can't support all of us, then we would send some to space first : p
If we made cats that can glow in the dark, we can do this in a couple hundred years or so.

It really isn't that hard to think about. I can see us a couple thousand years into the future doing this exact sort of thing as an experiment. Granted it will take many many millions of years to develop as did us, it is definitely possible to manipulate DNA as such.
