This has been brought up countless times... by the way, there used to be a community search but it was removed because it didn't work well. There is a URL that still lets you search community but it's harder to find. A user search would be ok, for instance if you know a person is called james*numbers* an you don't know what the numbers are you could search and that would be ok. Comments? I'm not really sure about that, I guess It would be easier to find merit worthy comments but still not the best idea. Really good ideas unlimitedpower.
It is not that this isn't a good idea. We had a functional issue with the last community search engine, so it had to be removed. As soon as we can fix it, or find a new way to run it, it should be back. Please be patient!
