It seems like you have a decent understanding of math and variables in Flash. It is good to experiment with it. I would suggest, however, that you would make the text not selectable. Other than that, it looks good. Yet, there's not much I can say based on what is shown. For a couple of weeks, you are making good progress and I encourage you to continue to practice with ActionScript. Good job!

Why would I need to do that?

No, when selecting text, there should be an option in the properties panel that allows you to choose if the text can be selectable or not. You don't need to make it not selectable, but it makes things look more professional. However, you would want the text to be selectable if you wanted someone to be able to right-click and copy the text.
