Not necessary, but it can be useful for people who use slang.

Ish...i don't think the title is THAT insulting. Because, let's be honest, most newcomers start out as N00BS.

Newcomers start out new!
Noob is a word with no meaning and made for lazy people who don't like to spell.

Juan is correct. "noob" is actually not a real word, just another slang word for newcomer.

Wow. I'm going to be frank: this thread is bad. The last thing anyone needs to promote is l33t terminology or Internet slang -- it reflects poorly on how the person on the other end of the computer cannot express him or herself properly. Does it hurt people to type a few more letters (or words) to get the point across in clear, plain English?

Also, the creator of the thread should have sourced the information:
Internet Slang on Wikitionary

Strop was online a few minutes ago.
Anyway. Just stop posting if you think it's spam.

Why is it that so many people are unable to search Google or Urban Dictionary for terms they do not know what mean?

And as Cenere pointed out on the first page - a newcomer equals a newb or newbie. Not a n00b/noob. N00bs are the people that should know what they're doing, but refuses to learn and are just plain stupid.
I learned the difference the hard way... >.>
