Now I'm not against the censorship of particularly bad words, seeing that our audience is a PG one. But does "ra,pe" (comma added to avoid astericks) seriously need to be censored? It is no more worse than &quotorn."

I agree.
Some words that aren't ''Bad'' get censored.
Let's see if this works...
''sprocks''

I guess with the word rap,e its probably to stop people insulting each other eg 'im gonna ra.pe ur mum' type thing, not cos its a bad word. I htink its a tad odd aswell though.

I'm not sure why there needs to be a thread over such words. If it is censored, then good, if not, then make the most of it. Those words are often sexually-oriented, but porn is a less of a serious matter, that's why it is censored. As for porn, well, you guys are mature enough to not get all giddy over it... well, at least I hope so.

According to Carlie, r@pe was censored because some users threatened female mods with it...

I've only seen it used in the discussions, but... Well, that's just the way it is.
It's the only word I won't warn you for going around the censor with, as long as it is in a mature context (meaning no flaming or inappropriate stuff).

But hey, look on the bright side. We keep improving the censor. And are now able to write cockroach whenever we want to without getting ****roach.

well thats good to know Zophia.I really have no issue with them censoring the word, and keep in mind that when they censor a word they always have a reason for it.Whether that reason is still valid like the word &quotsprocks" that L337 was referring to.Apparently from what I remember hearing about that situation was that a member with that name caused a lot of commotion and people wouldn't stop talking about him.Trust me everything they censor has its purpose, and in fact I think it would be safe to safe that everything they implement to the site has its own purpose in one way or another.Whether you agree with it or not.So try to keep that in mind.

If anyone has ever used the YABB forums, instead of stars for censorship, they replace it with funny words. That way, people know what you meant, but you won't have this big, ugly, glaring word that will make little children cry.

For example:
F*** - Crappity Smack
B*tch - Female Dog

And more. It makes me laugh every time you see an edit such as: "What the crappity smack are you talking about?? You crappity smacking female dog."
