What's the Game genre of games like FRANTIC here on AG or IKARUGA for the Xbox called??

yeah, but action games are like metal slug and so forth i guess...like shoot'em up games...i guessed arcade or shooters, idk

I call them vert shooters, but I'm not sure how many people actually call them vert shooters. Maybe "vertical scrolling shoot 'em ups", as opposed to side-scrolling shoot 'em ups.
