I would appreciate it if you read the book, "Ghosts of Onyx", a lot of things are based on info stated in that book, this takes place after Halo 3 however. This RPG starts two years after you are kidnapped, still in training but hardened, agile, strong and very muscular.

No, Xp or levels, the rank system replaces that. Sonic had a good suggestion, a leader. The team only lasts until training is over and the leader only devises plans. You choose how to operate your part and training over after you complete three missions: stealth, ranged, melee.
Ex: Leader: I say 1 go left and 2 go right. 1:Goes left attacking any enemies 2:Goes right remaining unnoticed
