2) A decent translation MUST be provided. If, however, no literal translation exist (e.g. it's an ancient proverb which demonstrates a concept), then a footnote explaining it would be nice. Unless there really is no point i.e. your character was talking untranslatable gibberish.

Is this needed with simple curses? Something not so bad (Equal to "Hell", "darn" and the like)?

Shading refers to depicting depth in (...) illustrations by varying levels of darkness.

wiki-shading
Simply put: Shadows.
Yours have been shaded, some of others have not, because some are on vacation and others do not check in very often.

o.O I managed to understand it, but would have guessed it to be Dutch or so...
