My uncle have Gta:Vc,Gta:Sa,Gta 3,Gta Liberty city.
So i have played all of them and San andreas is best.

GTA 4 is the best!!! Thank God it's on PS3! This game is awesome, I've seen all it's trailers and played a demo! This is the best GTA yet!!!!!

Id say story wise Vice City or III. But playability wise id go with san andreas. GTA IV is gonna rock everyones pants off tho so this thread is irrelevant until the 28th
