I accidentally hit one house when using the plant breath and still got fertile.

I believe the flower applies to the wild or fertile behaviors, and the gold applies to all other behaviors.

But heck, I didn't realize those were crop fields until just now. I always thought they were stacks of logs.

You can become a necromantic guardian or watcher if you only heal the people who are already dead. You can also be a wild guardian/watcher or even fiery. It all depends on whether you use your powers on humans or not.

I got fertile while breathing on the forest and the crops (and the gallows :D). So I think the main thing is to just avoid the houses and get the crops.

Oh, Those are crop fields? I always thought they were logs...

But upon closer inspection, they do look like fields.

Sorry for the Double post, But It's okay to hit all trees and a house or two, and you can still get Fertie Guardian, just as long as you mainly target plant life.

Hey, I think that there are actually 6 different behaviors that the elder dragon can have, but I can't figure out the sixth one (the one on the far left of the hero menu.

Behaviours are:
Fertile, Fiery, Necromantic, Rampaging, Reclusive and Wild. Listed in that order in the game. They're all explained in this thread already.
