well,  mario games kick sonic's a**, but in a fight sonic would prbly flora dora (pwn) mario.

Mario he's had more of an impact on the genre. Are we forgetting that Super Mario 64 was the first 3D game EVER?

Agreed. Mario is practically the icon of the Video Game buisiness. There isn't a person in the world that wouldn't recognize him after seeing him. And isn't Super Mario Galaxy the first kind of planety-a-lot-of-gravity-switching-game ever too?

I love all the lod games, but some of the new sonic and mario games are too easy.

Neither, they are both very overrated. Any other video game charecter beats both of them.

not ANY other character, think about kirby and starfy, they are horrible games.

I like mario.  I think Mario is the ultimate original video game character!  I mean look how old he is and he's still popular!

I don't think Sonic is that popular to most people these days.

I think in a fight though Sonic would win cause he is super fast.  However, if Mario got the Fire Flower, he could spit fireballs at Sonic and probably kill him.  Also, if he became Big Mario, he could easily stomp on Sonic.  But, Sonic is fast, so he might be able to run away from Big Mario, unless he gets trapped.  So who know s who would win!!
