The trial is the real version. All you do is buy a code from Adobe to unlock it! :)

Is there any way to make games without having tobuy rele xpensive equipment or having to get a trial whch would run out or are those the only options?

Yeah, if you're just after making a game, then Game Maker 7 is great. However, you can't make .flv with it.
