Hi, this is Moat(once again). This thread differs from my usual type in that it is not an RPG. Rather, it is a test of sorts. A bit like the Impression Game, for those who remember that. The system will be the same as the IG, but there will be a winner crowned after every stage in the competition and there will be a small award, which will be explained later. First things first. This game is mainly just trivia and whatnot, based on a theme that is first chosen by me, and later will be chosen by the contest's victors(more on that later). Scoring is simple. The first person to correctly answer my question will receive one point. People who answer correctly after the first, will receive nothing. People who answer incorrectly will lose one point(and yes, it is possible to have negative points), so answer carefully! Questions will always be chosen by me except in my absence, wherein I will chose a replacement until my return. The contest is broken up into theme segments. Each theme segment will have 5-10 questions(it varies). Once those ten questions have been answered(or the one-day deadline for getting a correct answer has passed, more on that later) the person with the most points in that will get to choose the next theme, and the points will be wiped and the next stage will begin. I do keep track of Wins, but this is purely for ego and bragging reasons for those who have earned it. You cannot pick a theme that has already been used. You can have a streak up to three stages long. If this is accomplished, you will be unable to answer in the next stage(this is to give others a chance to catch up with you). There is a one day deadline to receive the correct answer to a question. If that passes and the correct answer has not been received, then the real answer will be given by me at that time and the new question will be asked. If there are any further questions about the competition, they can be asked at any time within the thread. Now... The new theme is Band/Musician Names That Mean Something Else. I know, it's a long title, but it makes up for it. See, I would say a band/musician name like "Duran Duran". The correct answer would be something like "Duran is a male name. The etymology is French; meaning, 'enduring'." Understood? Great. Let's start you off with something easy. The question is *cue drumroll*.... Black Sabbath.
*frowny face* Aren't they always, though? But yeah. I pretty much suck at being concise.
Anyway, black has a connotation for darkness, evil, Satanic things. A sabbath is a time of worship. So it basically means worship the darkness.
I'll take that. My perception of it was that a sabbath is the day of worship(like Sunday) wherein you don't work, so a black sabbath would be a day where it is supposed to be a sabbath but you break the sabbath(in Johnny Tremain, when he had a "black sabbath" he was permanently crippled after an accident. And don't say that's not what happened in the movie, because I will pop my top. I hate it when Disney makes all those feel-good endings that are so unrealistic). But yeah, I'll take that. It's just a different view, but it's perfectly realistic. So...
Nirvana is a band that was created by Kurt Cobain Some songs that I know off the bat from him are: -About A Girl -Aero Zeppelin -(Maybe I'm not to sure)-Alcohol
Somebody didn't read the OP. This post is what I like to define as an epic fail.
Stage 1 1. the_manta(3) 2. PanzerTank(-2) Wow, Panzer. Let me try to explain, again. More concisely. -I say something like "Duran Duran". -You say the real meaning of Duran Duran: not the band name, not anything to do with the band itself, nor its music. Understood? Let's try a harder one, where Spencer might not get it right off the bat. Let's try to break his streak, eh? ACDC.
