have you seen the hurt locker..... yes we do need to be over there otherwise that country would be blown to oblivion
Part of the reason they are bombing is because our military is there. The middle east has been taking care of themselves long before America had a European on it.
of course when 9-11 happened though we felt the "need" to fix things. i for one dont know that much about the irag war and why we are out there in the first place so does someone want to explain to me whats the deal with it
There isn't a clear reason as to why we are there. Too much speculation and lies to sift through. And this can EASILY be turned into a 9/11 topic.
I watched another documentary today on the events of 9/11. This one brought some new things to my attention, but I am rambling now.
OP: I do not think we should be there in such force. No viable progress has been made. The elections are still rigged. As far as I am concerned our military-hungry country is not helping our deficit.
but that ended a long time ago there hasnt been a "mass" genocide in a while and i dont think there will be. (there still is about a 30% chance though that there could be one)
If America really cared about genocide, we'd be in Africa right now.
I don't really see that the intention is relevant. Genocide was there, it was stopped. That's a good thing. Maybe we should do it more often. Other developed nations, too. Anyone with guts and a gun, really.
I do agree that the US really shouldn't have such a presence anymore. It isn't helping much right now.
The genocide in Africa is not over... more like slow-moving. But, if we want to talk about genocide. Take a look at the number of middle eastern people that have been killed by our military. The last stat I saw was somewhere in the 3 million.
So, my point is that we have no ethical reason to by in Iraq. It is pure greed. In my opinion, we should not be there. We SHOULD be helping the whirlwind of terror going on in Africa.
And I, personally, find the mass-killing of homosexuals almost every week quite disturbing.

Don't forget the brutal US intervention in the Middle East since the 50s.
The Shah of Iran? Intervention in Soviet intervention? Overthrowing a democratic Iranian leader? Saddam Hussein? The First Gulf War? Bombings of Lebanon?
We SHOULD be helping the whirlwind of terror going on in Africa.
There is plenty of poverty everywhere that can be solved much more easily through simple aid of food and water.
Hell, plenty of places need "democracy", but not through bombing. But I wonder why the US chooses the countries that just happen to have the largest reserves of oil...hmmm.
First thing's first: This whole ordeal wasn't all America. Other countries thought it was a pretty sweet idea, too.
The US and GB are its largest participants, who both have made their ambitions for oil clear.

I never said anything about poverty or democracy. But you do see my point that it isn't about helping the country. I think we should though.
