What I dont like is when games let you choose WASD or the arrows but then they go and make spacebar the jump instead of W or up. Always messes me up especially in stickman sam.
I prefer WASD over arrow keys for one simple reason. If I am playing games at work and the boss walks in real fast. My hand is already on the mouse and I can just click open the window I am working in. Otherwise they are both equal in my mind.
If there are weapons or actions to be commanded with keys on the right side of the keyboard I like WASD. If weapons or actions are commanded by the # keys like 1-5 then i prefer arrow keys
WASD if i have to use the mouse cuz other wize all my hands are on the right side of my body which is awkward. But if the other controls are keyboard i use Arrows
It's all about WASD, especially since many hotkeys are either Q&E (which are easier to reach than PgUp and PgDn) but also the number keys are frequently used as well, making hotkeys much easier and quicker to reach.
There was a time I would have said arrow keys, because I had only ever seen arrow keys being used. Now, after having used both, I can say that it doesn't matter to me. I use them interchangeably, sometimes using WASD then getting up to do something only to come back and use the arrow keys.
WASD because your left hand can move and your right hand can operate the mouse at the same time. Arrow keys and using the mouse at the same time feels alien to me. Plus, you can move your fingers from the WASD postion reload more quickly.Opposed to arrow keys where you need to move your whole hand over there for a critical second which could be enough time for a missle to make you go KA-BLEWY.
For me it depends on what other keys I need to press. Enter/space: arrows Tab: wasd With mouse: wasd usually, but it doesn't matter if I have to use the arrows. In fact I used to do that as a kid.
