This is a bit of a forum game, but at the same time it has the capacity to result in a bit of poetry, so it goes here. I'm going to supply a line of poetry, and the following poster is to create a poem using the line I gave as their first. Along with their poem, they supply a line for the next person to write poetry on. No restrictions on the type of line or poetry; just keep the line open ended.

Here's the first line:

A mountain pokes out awkward in the mist

Down the lonesome trail
They walk
An eternal journey, an infinite quest
But limited food
To survive,
Some will have to be eaten

I turn my camera on
To see
A beaming line of
Memory.
The triumphs I did not
Delete
Are those that make this life
Complete.
The failures that I can't
Recall
Might well have not been there
At all.

Our houses will be painted black

Not gonna let this die... Also "black" is easy to rhyme, so thanks Parsat.

Our houses will be painted black
A hidden shack
From all of those who would attack
To steal what they lack

We will stay inside all day
Only at night will we play
So that no one will betray
These houses where we pray

I lie down for a long time

I lie down for a long time,
For several minutes,
For several hours,
Wait for the bells' chime.

I lie down to sleep,
To lay awake,
To die in pain,
For my life to weep.

I lie down to dream,
Of golden wheat fields,
Of pharmaceuticals,
To cry a stream.

I pray not to die,
For this is my last,
The end has come,
An eternal lie.

I lie down to sleep,
To sleep forever,
To dream forever,
What I have sown I shall reap.

And now I die.

Spring has come again:
I know from cherry blossoms
And the croaking frogs.

I glued soft feathers to my arms
A desperate attempt to escape
The stiff breeze lifted me high
And a vista of farms caught my eye

Alas the sun turned on me
And I fell from the heavens
Crashing the clouds
To a watery grave

No greater band of brothers have I met

No greater band of brothers have I met
Than Barry, Brandon, Bob and Bret.
Every day to work they went
Every night at bars they spent
Time together, until the sun set

When Bret was taken by his heart (too weak)
The three mourned for a week
At work his shoes they filled
At bars his drink they spilled
But they still missed a brother, unique

Then Bob was destroyed (smashed by a truck)
The two aware of their fading luck
Hurt too much, work did not rebound
Into their drinks they drowned
The last half sunk into muck.

Brandon took too many chances (shot by a dealer)
The one lost his only healer
Now he's alone, homeless
Drinking liquor in excess
His wife leaves, never again to feel her

Last of all, Barry removes himself (a rope)
The rest dead, he couldn't cope
In their office, a plaque reminds
In the bar, stools miss their behinds
A fragile fraternity, never any hope.

The annoyance
Of that gol darn bee.
Thinks that he can keep pestering,
Me?!

Never
Will I ever
Let that bee leave alive.
For I,
The evolved one,
Have the element of suprise.

SMACK
Almost gotcha!
SMACK
Get back here!!!!
SMACK
C'mere Buddy!
SMACK
I'm your worst fear.

So he thinks he can beat me?
Thinks he can just leave?
Fly out of MY window?
And into the breeze?

No way bud.
Not today.
I've got a fly swatter.
And it is your butt I'm gonna slay.

_____

I'm gonna stop here lol. This could go on forever XD

The devil's hands hold up all the cards,
He peeks over shoulders and loads all the dice,
And still somehow we must defeat him:
Only way to win is to fight fire with fire.

Ours is a drill to pierce the heavens,
Used to crush the Gods above.
We march to Hell with all our weapons,
Destroy all that is left of love.

Feel the pain of Satan's wrath,
For he lives within.
Welcome to a great blood bath,
Killing is no great sin.

Enticed into killing,
Ready to die,
Soon to kill us all;
What is left is quite thrilling,
Killing for one great lie.

Welcome to pain,
We're all here to perish,
Playing in our blood rain,
Killing is to be cherished.

Enticed into killing,
Ready to die,
Soon to kill us all;
What is left is quite thrilling,
Killing for one great lie.

I felt like writing some death metal. xD

Buring with rage,
like an endles fire.
Like the olympic torch,
Cannot get my disire.

My anger still burns,
with all its might.
Going all through the day,
When will this end.

This feeling of fire,
Is driving me crazy.
Why did this happen,
To me is hazy.

It is all a big fog,
Whats this about,
This makes me want to scream, kick, and shout.
But as soon as it stared.

It seemed to end,
Like it never happened.
My dear dear friend,
The End.

It tasted so good,
actually might.

The lake is as still as glass

My first instinct is to go with "it's still cause it's dead", but I feel like I may have overused the genre, so I'll write something... happy(ish).

The lake is still as glass
Trees watch as silence overwhelms me
I play the quiet game
Daring the birds to be first
Knowing they'll be last

I yell a summer warrior's cry
Smashing into the water
Breaking the lake into shards
That return peacefully to home

My echo travels around the lake
Followed by a chorus of birds
The lake, no longer glass
But fresh cut grass

Ready for a summer warrior.

Did I ever tell you?
