In a nutshell, we don't know.
That should clear up everyone's questions, right? Good ...
As a development team and as a company, we know that the forums are extremely important to some of you, and we know that some of you have put a lot (!!!!) of effort into building up the community here, especially those who have written the more creative poetic stuff. C'mon, how many of you have > 5,000 posts, raise your hands. That amount of effort is *staggering*. Seriously, I think the highest post count I've seen was ~8400? Over 2.5 years, that'd be like 10 posts EVERY DAY since AG2 launched.
The effort of migrating that much data from AG2 to AG3 is almost as staggering, since the guy who wrote the AG2 forum software didn't make it terribly efficient, and the way we're linking accounts, etc., between the two systems might cause problems. Trying to migrate it to AG3 will be a pretty big job, and it will probably fall in my lap since I'm sorta the database guru around here, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's up to me whether I want to do it or not. If Dan says do it, I do it.
Whether we start over, and wipe everything, and build a new forum engine, or implement someone else's forum software, remains to be discussed internally because it's not a critical feature for us yet. That doesn't mean it's not important to us, it just means we have to get core features working like, y'know, logging in.
Will we migrate old posts into the new forum software? It depends whether we can find an easy way to make the old forum data compatible. Nothing's *impossible* but it's also not practical for us to spend development time (read: dollars) for us to spend a big amount of effort trying to sort stuff out so it's all perfect and pristine.
If we start over with forum posts, will we archive the old forums? Again, nothing's impossible, but I can't answer that right now.
What will happen to your armor points for forum posts? Well, since armor points are also up in the air regarding the same sort of "wipe vs migrate" discussions, I can't answer that question right now either.
Please direct people asking about the future of AG2 forums to this thread if they start asking questions in other forums/threads. I'll post updates to this thread as I have more information.

And yes, we have other tools to track user behavior.
I think its a good idea to see what forums you ''follow'' because I cant't find the forum back which I was reacting to.
I like how user behavior can be tracked, especially if it is done in a way to detect spammers easily. Also, I like the idea of merging threads into a single discussion. That should hopefully reduce the clutter in the forums.
I often wright my comment in the box where you wright the comment and I then wonder what it will look like when I post it. So how about on top of the submit button their is a preview button which will show you a preview of what your post will look like. Armatar and all.
And also when putting in an image can we not be able to upload an image from our own PC.
Yeah, an edit button and a preview mode are two of the top features requested for the AG3 forums.
As for hosting your images, we won't allow image uploads to our servers. You will have to host your images online at some other service and link to them here. It separates us from some legalities in terms of ownership, licensing, copyright, trademarks, etc.
The thing which could be a good new would be that: the part where you write your text would looks like a word processing program (as Microsoft Word, or Open Office). You could past directly photos and pictures without using a link and with all the word processing programm tools as underline, center, align left or right...
There would be a lot more of possibilities to post the best comments you can do, a well-organized comment and more pleasant to read for others.
I'm sorry I've forgotten to tell you that I would like to have the possibility to use the accents for persons who want to talk in French, Spanish...
I told you that because I'm french.
We've already looked at several tools like TinyMCE for editing posts, and will have some of these controls on AG3, not just in the forums.
As for accents, because our Rules and Guidelines specify that all forum posts must be in English, there's no need to allow non-English accents.
Of course. But in the comments, if two persons want to chat in french for example, it would be available, no?
I think what cormyn was saying was that non-English accents would make a post non-English, and the rule is to post in English. Therefore, cormyn called the accents unnecessary.
Ok, on the forum, I can belive. But in the comments! We would like to speak in French sometimes, we are allowed, no? And we need accents!
Okay u know how u have like the mega topics like arnor games 3 is a mega topic I rate that above all of the mega topics you can have a suggest mega topic
Why not a classification of the thread which have the most high number of posts or views? Thanks to that, we could find which Topics are the most popular.
Sorry by mega topic I mean thread
But in the comments! We would like to speak in French sometimes, we are allowed, no? And we need accents!
Yes, under our current rules, as long as you know that the person you're writing to can communicate effectively in another language, then you are permitted to write messages in another language.
