we need a thing on our profiles and people can vote and the person who gets the most gets player of the week and gets 10 AP or karma or something like that

No, I disagree with this. It'll create more spammers. And all that.

Both ideas have problems;

Picking a random user has nothing to do with user's opinion (basically that's what you were talking about in the first post. Free random AP is... random.

Yes, like every feature it could be abused. Yes, it can essentially be spammed. The thing is, most likely someone in the top 100 will be getting the points, simply because they have the most friends and people to talk to. And it would be dumb to watch someone get this award over and over again. They don't need the AP, it's just spoon-feeding them for no reason.

How about people who help out on the community, game developments or detailed comments/reviews e.t.c.

no then they'd pick a ghost acc

but what we could do is each player gets 1 vote per week maby to get them to do it they get 1 ap per vote and the person with the most votes wins you cant vote 4 yourself a person can only win once so like someone wouldn't win every week we could even make it so we get vote notifyed to our email

How would this contribute to anything? To find out who the most popular person is on AG. Again, it's not too hard; simply look at the most active user at the time on the top 10.

What if the Moderators/Administrators could hand pick 10 people and then there could be a vote based on those 10 people to pick the player of the week

This would be a great idea if AG was more focused on the games, but most of the users who actually regularly play the games are users whose names are unknown to the community.

But what if people spent all their time voting for that person and they were player of the week every week?

The Moderators/Administrators could hand pick 10 different people every week, also they would probarly be hand picked for helping out on the community, game developments or detailed comments/reviews e.t.c.

I'd rather the Player of the Week/Month/Year be based off contributions. Voting for a user just has too much complications to it.

The AP/karma system will already do this, folks. As people contribute to the site, and play games, they'll rise to the top. Our current "top players" is called a leaderboard.

Maybe some time next year we can work on a way to see which users have contributed/played a lot in the past week, more than others, and do something like this. But not for the initial AG3 launch.
