As for new entries on the most destinctive album covers, what about "Metallica - The Black Album"? That's an album cover almost everyone in the world knows I presume... :)

I believe that the Beatles "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" has one of the most distinctive album covers. It is filled with very bright colors and has the interesting design of having many famous people on it. Plus, the album cover helped to inspire the attempt at making very creative album covers.
     I also very much like the Who's "Tommy" album

there is just something about this album that makes it seem to look cool to me.

This one was introduced to me by a fellow student back in the days of highschool and I loved it's cover at first sight! And let me tell you... the music was even better!!!

"System Of A Down - Steal This Album"

A wonderful and extremely simple way to provoke people... make an album and name it "Steal This Album"! I must tell you that I never had the urge though... I just bought it!! LOL

One of the most powerful and politically influenced album covers of all times... it still is one of my alltime favorite bands! ...and that's not only because of their neverending stamina to keep on 'bashing the power in their golden tower'!!

The colours and imaging used on this album cover make for a beautiful picture to look at! The music on it was so-so...

And last, but most of all NOT LEAST...

"Van Halen - 1984"

To me, one of the best albums ever made! Not only of this particular band, but also for the entire music available and that I've been able to listen to so far! PLUS, it's (again) an album cover that is recognised by a lot of people when shown to them, even if they are not a fan... =)
