This is the guide to the Tavern section of the forum. As it does say that 'all topics are welcome," there are still some do's and don't's.

--Rules--

1. All topics need to spark discussion.
2. If you are going to create a topic, investigate to see if the topic has already been done.
3. All "this vs. that," "RPG threads, and etc. belong in the Forum Games section.

(progress is pending)

Okay Regs, I have unstickied a lot of the topics up here. The clutter is not very nice. Right now, I only have a few rules listed. But I am going to be adding to this topic as a kind of "catch all" for the Tavern. If you feel that something needs to go in the topic, go ahead and post it here and we'll discuss if it needs to be added.

Why not just make an uber sticky. Go copy and paste all of the stickys, and past them here. then its all in one spot, you cn lock it again, and bam, no more clutter, but everything is still here.

So "McDonald's vs. Burger King" would go in the forum games section? I need some clarification.

And skaters idea is a good idea.

A like a couple centralized stickies than an uber sticky.

Agreed, this isn't really a forum game--more like a half-productive thread lol

I agree with the people above me. I've seen some of the versus threads which have actually produced worthwhile conversation. While I do understand that there's always a slight disdain of them, they aren't always useless.

I was going to do that and realized that some of those stickies were REALLY outdated and you guys caught why. We had an entire thread dedicated to no "this vs. that."

However, I do agree they can divvy up some good convo. So, it looks like I'll need to expand on the this vs. that rule. That's one thing.

The other stuff really seemed not very important. I suppose I could pull some important stuff from the FAQ and forum rules to put on here as a reminder.

Any other thoughts?

I can't really think of anything, sorry! You could say "Just because all threads are welcome here, doesn't mean that some threads are more welcome in other forums", but that's already in the forum header.

Also, some "this vs. that" depends on what is versing. They can be from flash games, video games, media, and the random (aka tavern), so it can't really be a part of the forum games forum.

I believe with proper vigilance useless versus threads will be eliminated. The three main problems are spam posts, subject repeats and unreasonable comparisons. Though, we all know that right?

Make sure that everything's PG13, no threads about specific users, etc.

This was pretty sneaky Asherlee I just noticed this thread and it feels like I've been ninja'd.

no threads about specific users, etc.

That's very true. That kind of discussion is what sharing your contact information is for. That way everyone can have private discussions about Pauler without him knowing D:

Wouldn't it be a bit difficult to "research" on whether your topic in mind has already been born?

No, there is a forum search. You can simply type in the name of the thread you are thinking of creating, or just the name of the general idea of it, and it'll show you if it already exists.

Yes there was a sticky about it somewhere I don't know because they removed them. However I think AG3 will have an official one.

No, there is still a sticky with the forum search. It has just been packed into a new sticky that combined all the other stickies, like this one is doing, which is currently called "Read this if you don't want to look stupid[...]"...
Yeah. So, it was not removed, you apparently just decided not to read an updated sticky, that might have crucial information.

Further:
Don't go necroing crap. It is annoying, and locking threads is a complicated spell that takes a lot of concentration, time and running around in our official mod-uniforms in a parking lot at noon, swinging a dead fish over our head, while we chant the seven verses of "Lock-a-thread".
So please, check back a few pages/a month or two in the forums... And then write something awesome...

I..I could of sworn I had a sticky here that was cunningly disguised as a honey pot!

That is what I get for having stuff break. >_<
