Just (I think) announced by Tod Howard at the Spike Video Game Awards!!!
The video seems to tell of the return of the Dragons, and someone called "The Dragon Born". You should have acted. They're already here. The Elder Scrolls told of their return. Their defeat was merely delay Til the time after Oblivion opened. When the sons of Skyrim would spill their own blood But no-one wanted to believe. Believe they even existed. And when the truth finally dawns: It dawns in fire. But. There's one they fear. In their tongue, he's Novak'leen Dragon Born!
I don't really get many games anymore, since I'm getting bored of video games, but I am definitely getting this game, because Bethesda is probably the greatest video game company of all time. Oblivion was an absolute masterpiece and I love that game. I might even quit CoD for good because of this game.
SSSSQQQUEEEEEEEEEEE- -cough- excuse the fanboy in me. I'm really excited about this - if the game delivers what it looks like it'll deliver then it could make Oblivion (a game that I'm a rabid fanboy of) look positively boring and stifling in it's creativity.
Kinda like their temporary homepage where you can click outside the trailer and "investigate" the stone tablets
So...Skyrim is going to be set in Skyrim (obviously), where 75% of the combined races are going to be the Nords, my favorite character. I hope Wes Johnson is going to maintain his perfect attendance for TES. That guy's awesome for video game characters!
A friend of mine told me about this, and that the newest game informer had a few small details in it concerning the new engine being used. I'm quite excited, and it's about time I say.
its a bit odd... ES: 3 was named for its area, ES: 2 was named for the only race you could play as (redguard), ES: 4 was named for the main game theme, and ES: 5 is another area name. Bethesda isnt very static with their name decisions.

ElderScrolls 2 was Daggerfall. I think Redguard Adventures was a spinoff.
So according to the timeline, Oblivion is the odd ball.
ES: 2 was named for the only race you could play as (redguard)
No offense but fail. TES2 was Daggerfall, not Redguard. Redguard was spin off known as TES Adventures: Redguard. Similar to TES Travels or Legends, which include:
Battlespire Redguard Shadowkey Stormhold Dawnstar
The latter 2 being developed exclusively for Java-enabled cell phones.
